The real Adventure begins with my tax return. I decided that, hey, I've got some money, let's go to the game store and spend it!
As a D&D group we had thrown around the idea of playing the "World's Largest Dungeon" for a little while (Re: 5 years) but never actually bought it, due to the price ($100 cdn). I had some money now, though, and I sprang to mind. So I splurged, and now the 800 page behemoth is in my possession!
We haven't ran an actual pre-written adventure for years, and the players were super excited to get it going. So come Tuesday night, they rolled up 1st level characters, and off we go!
The party consists of:
Bill, A Dwarven Fighter
Paul, An Aasimar Paladin
Corey, A Halfling Rogue
Sean, A Human Spirit Shaman
Mitchell, A Synad Psion
We begin as they are exploring the countryside, and come across the corpse of a Titan. Upon searching his corpse, Bill and Mitch begin arguing the merits of trying to scavenge metal from his armour, while Corey uncovers all of the pages in his pocket and begins an attempt to read them. They fail on the scavenging bit, while Corey realizes that this is a journal, thousands of years old and full of doodles. Everyone else sees the cave and marches inside.
Upon finding a room with black portals instead of entryways, they are naturally wary. Corey sticks his hand and his head through to take a peek, only to find he could not retreat! So Bill just shoved him the rest of the way through, and he was joined by the rest of the party a few rounds later. With that, they are trapped inside until such a time as they find another exit (Hint: it'll be a while).
They came across a group of orcs, attempted to question them, and finally put them out of their misery in short order, with none of the party even getting hit.
An exploration of the southern-most door made Corey puke from the smell, but he searched on and found some treasure, most of which was promptly left behind.
The next door down revealed an Orc corpse, which was ignored in favour of the north door. As Corey was taking too long to search the doorway, Bill booted him through again and Sean followed soon after. And that's when everything went black. Corey got hit in the head by some creature, which caused a full retreat.
They decided to sleep the night, and the session ended there.
The plan is to continue this every week, hopefully so we will have a full journal to look back on when we are done! However long that may be!
